Day 1, Friday Fracas at the Arizona YC Birthday Regatta

The wind stuck around and gave people some great sailing conditions on Arizona's Lake Pleasant.
Winds at the start were around 12-14 knots with some puffs in the teens.
By the third race of the Friday Fracas, the winds had come down to the 4-8 knot range, but they never completely went away, and revived a bit to help homeward-bound boats after the third race.

Fleets starting were the Multihulls, Vipers (with a brace of 570s as "honorary Vipers" for the day, Buccaneers (the biggest fleet), Merits and PHRF Spin, Catalina 22s and PHRF Non-Spin, and Portsmouth. Gerald got in the Texas Viper with "Trail Boss"; they only got in one race but won it.

The start area should be busier tomorrow, with more than twice as many boats expected.

No protests were visible, but a few boats did violate the start line on their downwind runs and a few sailors may not have been clear on how the start and finish lines worked.

Tonights dinner will have a Mediterranean theme... and will be served in about an hour, so photos and more details will have to wait.

At the day's end, I was down to a t-shirt for upper-body clothing with temps reaching 72 F under sunny blue skies. If you missed it, tsk tsk. You never know what the wind will do until you try it.
