by the way, Santa, in case the elves would appreciate advance notice, here's a heads-up for what I might want for Christmas 2010.
(gee, this is the first chance I've had to write that number as a relevant date).

I realize that world peace and fulfilling career opportunities and all that sort of more or less altruistic stuff are hard to arrange, so this list will stick with old-fashioned materialism,

(1) some pretty nice foul weather gear including footgear that'll actually fit my wide-treaded feet,

(2) a nifty VHF radio with built-in GPS,

(3) a sporty little cabin keelboat that's easy to trailer and single- or double=hand.

(4) motivation to lose fifteen pounds.
