Hoping for a Desert Breeze, Prepared for a Party
That's the sum of it; the winds aren't forecast to be especially active but we'll make use of whatever is available for this weekend's Arizona Yacht Club Birthday Regatta and Leukemia Cup Challenge. Friday is the scheduled day of the "Friday Fracas" but so far it looks as though average winds will be fro the northeast at only 3 mph for the start. Let's hope for more and better.
Saturday will continue with the main regatta, followed by an evening under the big tent with keynote speaker Gary Jobson, US Sailing president. About 67 boats are registered for the regatta and there may be 70 or more boats on Saturday's starting line, which would be great for a regatta in the desert in 2010.
