CCC Statue at Elephant Butte Lake
The bronze statue represents Civilian Conservation Corps workers who built structures and completed various projects at Elephant Butte Lake during the Depression Era. The statue was erected in honor of the 75th anniversary of the CCC and was dedicated by local and state dignitaries on Saturday, October 18, 2008. This picture was taken on the following Sunday morning, when the area was much quieter. The statue is at the southern end of Elephant Butte Lake, by the Dam Site Resort and Marina, and within a quarter mile of the dam that impounds Elephant Butte Lake.
