Boatyard Stroll

Blue Buccaneer and Laser sailboat trailer. The Buccaneer as an eighteen-foot centerboard dinghy that weighs about 500 lbs.; it can fly a mainsail, jib, and spinnaker. Some Buccaneers have a special launching tube to make setting and dousing the chute easy. Competitive Buccaneer fleets in Colorado and Arizona make New Mexico a logical meeting place for them and a potential site for a new Buccaneer fleet. Note also that Dumbledore's yard is probably Placitas' closest approach to having a boatyard; not all of the boats are seen here and the boat population was down slightly when these photos were taken.

Laser sailboat trailer (set up to hold 9 Lasers and equipment for the Coronado Optimist Sailing Club and West Mesa High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), and blue Bucc

Yellow Bucc

Mutt and Bucc -- the Mutineer is a smaller cousing to the Buccaneer.

Not until around late on the 30th of September, 2008, did USA 125 make it back to Elephant Butte Lake, shown here at the mast-raising pole near the mast-up lot and Marina del Sur in Elephant Butte.
