Quick run to Elephant Butte, Sept. 9, 2008

East Third Street runs along the north side of the Rio Grande from Truth or Consequences, traveling from downtown T or C toward Elephant Butte Lake. Continuing eastward across the river, the road leads to the Dam Site Resort at the south end of the lake and then beyond toward Engle and the Spaceport. A left turn at this intersection brings travelers to the main portion of Elephant Butte Lake State Park and the town of Elephant Butte.


Campers enjoy the South Rock Canyon area, where they can face either the main part of Elephant Butte Lake or tuck themselves away in the partially protected cove.
