Cultural Infidel at the Anniversary Cup, 2008

Not many people think of New Mexico as aplace that would attract sailboat racers, or would think it likely that thirty-four-foot sailboats would be racing each other in a theoretical desert state. But, New Mexico is full of surprises, including sailing on our desert seas. Because the Anniversary Cup was a distance race and was held on a blustery day, it attracted a few of the club's larger resident boats. (Some club members keep their larger boats in coastal ports, but some of our cruisers are berthed within the state, including the S2-34 shown above and a Hunter 34 that raced against her this past weekend.)
